MEET DR. VARGAS!

Dr. Ivan Vargas joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas Department of Psychological Sciences in Fall 2019. Prior to coming to U of A, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program and the Center for Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and his B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Vargas' research interests focus on the etiology and treatment of insomnia. For example, his research is currently supported by an NIH career development award funded by the National Heart, Lung, & Blood Institute (K23HL141581) and an NIH Loan Repayment Programs (LRP) grant. His work also includes a number of other projects that evaluate behavioral interventions for sleep (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia or CBT-I).
